Create a Page in WordPress

To create a new page on your WordPress site:

  1. Log in to the Admin area
  2. In the navigation menu on the left, click on Pages drop down menu. To get the drop down to appear, hover your mouse over the title Posts. You will see a shaded dropdown triangle appear to the right of the title. Click on this triangle and you will see the sub-menu slide down.
  3. Click  Add New
  4. Start filling in the blanks with your content.
  5. When you finish and want the page to appear on your site, click the Publish button in the Publish area to the right of the edit area.

When you click the Publish button, your post will appear immediately on your site. In the Publish area you can also save your page as a draft, change whether the page is public or private (in which case you can add a password to the page), or set a publish date for some point in the future. To access any of these options, click the edit link beside the option you wish to adjust.

Publish in the future

You can also choose to publish your page at some time in the future. Click the edit link beside the Publish immediately link and set a date when you want to make the page public.

Where your pages appear in your site navigation

Where the links to pages appear in your site depends on the theme you are using. In the default Camosun theme, these links will appear in 2 spots; at the top of the page, and along the right hand side of your page.
