Copy Course Components in D2L

This document is designed to provide instructors with step-by-step instructions on how to copy materials over from course to course in Desire2Learn (D2L).

This document is relevant for instructors who:

  • Have previously taught using D2L and are teaching the following semester and would like their new course to be set up with the same structure (content, news items, quizzes, dropbox folders, grade book, etc). Instructors can also pick and choose what they want to copy over – enabling only the most suitable material/activities to be transferred into to the new course offerings.
  • Have been working in a development course and are now ready to move their materials and activities into their live course. For new faculty, this is the procedure to follow when copying materials from development courses to your live courses for the first time.

Live Courses

Live courses will be created 30 days prior to the course start date, providing the instructor or their designated school/department contact has notified student records to let them know who will be using D2L (please see D2L process for more information).

Students will be enrolled in the live course seven days before the start date of the course. While students are enrolled 7 days prior to the satrt date, they will not be able to access your course until the actual start date of your course.
