Building A Community Memory:
Capturing Knowledge Creation Processes In Online Environments
Abstract
This thesis examines the theoretical foundation for building a community memory within an online learning environment. The community memory is seen as a dynamic entity used to capture, manage and make available the learning community’s knowledge and knowledge creation processes for current and future learners. This paper further examines the process of knowledge creation within the individual as well as extending to the individual as a member of a broader community or organization. It examines the impact of maintaining the artefacts of the learning process and how these knowledge creation artefacts can be utilized in online learning environments to support and enrich future learning.
